Congratulations!
Day 41 – 09:00 – Temple 77
Was feeling a bit grumpy this morning after the day off. The weight of the pack felt heavy on my shoulders, my legs took a while to get going and I made a few map reading mistakes that cost me several hundred meters.
Then I exchanged greetings with an old lady and she said 偉いね which roughly translates as, “what you’re doing is great, isn’t it?” For great, you could substitute excellent, admirable, remarkable, distinguished or important. Then magically, everything seemed to improve.
I was chatting with a bunch of old ladies from the neighbourhood who were giving out drinks and they congratulated me on the Royal Wedding. I joked that they didn’t need to congratulate me, I wasn’t getting married.
